It is then that the story goes in its own direction. The story starts out much like the traditional story, but the story line changes radically when the wolf blows the pig right out of the story. This book is an example of both of these. Goldstone states that nonlinearity is frequently demonstrated through multiple story lines in words or pictures or one narrative text that is disrupted and goes in its own direction. One of the characteristics of a postmodern picture book is nonlinearity, which means that the story does not follow a sequential order as in traditional stories. They fly off on one of the pages and join other stories before making the decision to go back to their own story with some of their new friends. The third pig joins them, and they all realize how roomy it is outside of the storyboard so they decide to explore. He then encourages the second pig to join him where they are safe from the big bad wolf. In this story David Wiesner makes some radical changes to the story line when he has the wolf blow the first little pig right out of the story. This story is a new twist to the classic story about the three little pigs.
